Snake runner
A 3D snake runner over the sea. Your snake slides down a long track on its own; drag to steer it. Every ball of your colour adds one to your length. Other snakes crawl down the track ahead of you, slower than you: catch one whose number is no bigger than yours and it is yours to eat, its number added to your own. The red ones are bigger, and running into one, even its tail, ends the run. Gates add or take away length, saws cut off the end of your tail, spikes cost a quarter of you and the pools let into the track swallow you whole. Past the finish your snake winds round the bonus pillars as far as its length reaches, and the longest runs reach the treasure chest.

Press anywhere to start, then hold and drag to move the head left and right. The snake runs forward by itself and its body follows the exact path the head took. Eat the balls of your own colour for one length each. The other snakes crawl ahead of you with a number over their heads: green ones are no bigger than you, so catch them up to add their number to yours, and keep clear of the red ones, which are bigger, even as you pass them. Pick the better panel of each gate, go round the fences and drums, and keep your body out of the saws, because a saw keeps only the part of you in front of the blade. At the finish your length decides how many of the five pillars you wrap round; reach the chest and you choose a reward. On the results screen, stop the swinging pointer on the biggest multiplier.
Snake Sprint is a snake runner built in three.js. The snake is drawn afresh every frame as a tube of overlapping scales laid along the path the head travelled, so it curls behind you as you steer, bulges as each meal goes down, and keeps its full girth as it winds round the bonus pillars. The camera, the sizes of everything on the track and the pace of a run were measured frame by frame from the genre it comes from, down to how far the camera stands back as the snake grows. The rules live in a file of their own and a test player runs thirty levels through them on every change, which is how the difficulty was set: the first levels are cleared by almost anyone, while later ones bring walls of big red snakes crawling side by side, swinging saws and pools that ask for a careful line. The other snakes crawl down the track at their own pace, each along a line planned so that it never crawls through a fence, a saw or another snake. There are nine skins, a new one earned every five levels, and thirteen hats, from a crown to devil horns; some of the hats lie on the track waiting to be eaten.
