Stealth assassin
One knife, a building full of guns, and nobody looking your way.
A top-down stealth assassin game. You are one hunter with a knife; the building is full of armed guards, each with a torch that lights a cone of floor in front of him. Tap where to go and the hunter runs there the shortest way round the crates and walls; tap a guard and he goes after him. Reach a guard and he is dead, from any side. Step into a light and that guard turns, opens fire, and his shots carry, so the others come to look. Kills are heard too, a little. Tall grass hides you, keys open prize boxes, and every level is a new building: crates, rooms, lanes, halls of posts and gardens, with rifles from level 6, shotguns from 12, snipers and laser alarms from 18 and armoured guards from 25. Every tenth level is a bonus round, and from level 15 every tenth is a boss who takes two hits and rages between them. Nine assassins to unlock, upgrades, missions and a win streak.

Tap the floor and your hunter runs there, the shortest way round the crates and walls; an arrow on the floor shows his way. Tap a guard and he goes after that guard, following him as he walks. Reach a guard and he is dead, from any side, and pays cash. Each guard carries a torch: the white cone of floor in front of him is what he can see, and walls and crates cut it off. Step into it and the cone turns red, he turns on you and opens fire after a short beat, and the shots bring others to look. Get out of the light, or get behind cover, or get to him first. A kill makes a little noise, too: a guard nearby comes to see, with a red ? over his head. Tall grass hides you from anyone not close enough to touch you. Take every guard to clear the level. Keys you pick up open the prize boxes three at a time.
Blindside was built in three.js from long study of the stealth-assassin genre on mobile, frame by frame: the size of the map against the screen, the hunter's speed (about six tiles a second), the guards' walking pace, the width and reach of a torch, how long a guard waits before his first shot. The lights are exact: each one is cast against every crate and wall on the map, and the same test decides where a guard sees you, so what you see lit is precisely where you would be seen. Every level is built from its number by a maker that lays out rooms, lanes, crate stacks and halls of posts, sets the guards on rounds that never look at the door you come in by, and then hands the level to a bot that plays like a careful person: a level the bot cannot win is thrown away. The assassins and guards are Quaternius's, the gunshots are real recordings from The Free Firearm Sound Library, and the music is by Kevin MacLeod.
The same idea: one hunter with a knife against guards with torches, seen from straight above, and one touch to move. Here every level is a fresh building made from its number and played through by a careful bot before you see it, so none is a dead end; guards hear a kill or a shot and come to look; tall grass hides you; and everything - new assassins, upgrades, the prize boxes, a revive - is earned by playing, with no adverts in the way.
Hunter Assassinis someone else’s game and not affiliated with GamerX. It is named here because it is the clearest way to describe what Blindside is.
