Kung Fu Arena: A Real Fighting Game, Right in Your BrowserPlay Kung Fu Arena

Most games in this arcade are simple. Tap, drag, or steer. Kung Fu Arena is different. It is a real fighting game, the kind with rounds, blocking, and combos, and you can play it in a browser tab with no download at all.

Meet the four fighters

Kung Fu Arena has four fighters. Each one has its own color, but they all fight the same way underneath: real hitboxes, real animation, real timing. Pick Ember (fire orange), Cyclone (storm blue), Verdant (jade green), or Nova (cosmic purple). None of them is stronger than the others. Pick the color you like.

How to fight

  • Move: W A S D moves Player 1, arrow keys move Player 2.
  • Punch: F is a light punch, G is a strong punch.
  • Kick: V is a light kick, B is a strong kick.
  • Block: hold the direction away from your opponent.
  • Special moves: quarter-circle motions plus a punch or kick button, shown on the character select screen.

That sounds like a lot at first. It is not. Start with just punches and kicks. Add blocking once that feels normal. Save the special moves for later, once your hands know the basic buttons.

Two ways to play

Play 1 Player vs CPU and pick Easy, Normal, or Hard. Or play 2 Players, same keyboard, sitting side by side with a friend. Both control schemes work at the same time, so make sure you both have room for your hands.

Three tips for your first win

  • Block more than you think you need to. A blocked hit does almost no damage.
  • Mix punches and kicks. If you only ever throw punches, the CPU learns to block them.
  • Watch the round timer. If you are ahead on health when it runs out, you win the round without landing another hit.
🥋The real animation and hit detection come from Kung Fu Man, the sample fighter from the open-source Ikemen-GO engine (2009 Elecbyte, Creative Commons Non-Commercial). The four colors and the rest of the game around it are original GamerX work.

Best of three rounds, no download, no sign-up. Pick a fighter and see how far you get.
