Most "best racing games" lists are just names in a row, written by someone who watched a trailer once. We only have three racing games in the arcade right now, which is small enough that we can actually play every lap ourselves instead of guessing. So that is what we did, and this is the honest result, weaknesses included.
1. HexGL, the one that will actually beat you
HexGL is the classic pick, an anti-gravity hover-racer that has been humbling players since before "browser game" meant much more than Flash. Thrust with W, steer with A and D, and lean on the air-brake (Q and E) to actually make it through the tight canyon turns instead of clipping the wall. The hull gives out if you are careless, and the clock does not forgive a bad line through a corner.
Best for: players who want a real challenge and do not mind restarting a run three times before it clicks.
2. Trail Blitz, the one with an actual reason to brake
Trail Blitz loops a scrappy little bike around a forest circuit, and the drift mechanic here is not just for show. Hold Space through a corner and drift it properly, and you fill a real speed boost. Stand on the brake (S or ↓) into a hairpin and the bike actually slows down, rather than sliding through at the same speed regardless of input. Hit the gas (W or ↑) past your cruising speed and the camera pulls back a little, the engine gets louder, the road blurs faster. Three laps, and every one of those systems matters.
Best for: players who want the classic three-lap race structure with a real skill ceiling to climb.
3. Poly Racer, the one with no clock chasing you
Poly Racer is the odd one out on purpose: a sunny toy-car playground built by the react-three-fiber crew, with no lap timer hunting you down. Handbrake-drift with Space, reset the car with R if you launch yourself off the ramp (you will), and swap camera angles with C. There is technically a best-lap chase here if you want one, but most people open this one to just drift around and not think about winning.
Best for: unwinding without pressure. This is the one you open when you do not want a scoreboard watching.
