Most puzzle games ask you to avoid the danger. Shadow Walk asks you to cover it up instead. It is set on a small theater stage, and the only tool you get is a single spotlight.

The one rule

Your stickman can only walk where it is dark. Water pits and buzz-saws sit in the way, and light shining on them is deadly. Drag the spotlight and it casts real shadows behind whatever is standing in its path, usually a black block you can also move. Line the shadow up over the danger, and suddenly that path is safe to walk.

Watch your battery

The spotlight is not free to use forever. It runs on a battery that drains while it is on, shown right on screen. Plan your shadow before you commit to it rather than dragging the light around while it burns down, or you may run dry one step from the exit.

Bonus blocks

Some levels drop extra blocks partway through. Grab them and you get more shadow to work with, which usually means an easier route through the rest of the stage. They are optional, but worth the small detour almost every time.

It is a quiet, clever kind of puzzle, closer in spirit to Draw Current or Fold Home than anything fast-paced. If that is your mood, the full puzzle games shelf has more like it.
