Turf Rush looks simple for about ten seconds. Tap a region you own, tap a region next to it, and a little squad marches over to take it. Then you notice three other factions doing the exact same thing to you, and the map stops feeling simple at all.

The core loop: tap, send, and wait

Every move starts the same way. Tap one of your regions, then tap a neighboring region, and your current unit count marches out as a small squad. It does not teleport, it actually travels across the map in real time, so a longer trip gives the defender more time to react. Whichever side has more units when the squad lands keeps the region, and the loser is left holding whatever difference remains. Send 12 units at a region defended by 8, and you take it with 4 to spare.

Neutral land is the cheapest land you will ever own

Regions you own grow their own unit count automatically, no tapping required. Neutral regions do not. They sit at a fixed garrison forever, which means every turn you spend not taking them is a turn you spend falling behind a rival who did. Early on, grabbing the neutral regions around your capital matters more than picking a fight with another faction.

Watch your own border while you attack

The rival factions are running the same playbook you are, growing quietly and probing your edges. Send your whole army at one target and an empty border can get taken behind your back. Losing every region is an instant loss, but it is also a free, instant retry, so treat early levels as safe practice for the harder ones later.

  • Take neutral regions before rival regions. They never grow, so waiting only helps everyone else.
  • Compare numbers, not size. A small region defended by a big army still wins the fight.
  • Send from your strongest region, not just the closest one, so your squad actually lands with an edge.
  • Keep at least one region growing near your capital, in case a rival probes it while you are attacking elsewhere.
🗺️Every level generates a brand new map, so there is no layout to memorize. Learning the rules pays off far more than learning any one map.

Coins you collect carry between levels and unlock permanent upgrades: more starting units, faster growth, and earnings while you are away. Turf Rush was one of the picks we talk about in how we choose games for the arcade, and it is still one we come back to.
