Helmet Hero answers a simple question with a very literal mechanic: how big does a helmet have to be before it can smash through a brick wall? You spend the whole run finding out. Swipe down a construction site collecting hard hats, and every hat you grab makes your helmet a little bigger. Get big enough before a wall arrives and you go straight through it. Stay too small and you bounce off and lose a heart.
What happens if you hit a wall too small?
You have three hearts by default, and an upgrade can add more. Hit a wall without enough helmet size and you lose one, but the run keeps going so you can recover on the next stretch of hats. Run out of hearts and the attempt ends.
What is the crowd plaza at the end for?
Clear every wall and the runway opens into a plaza full of people. This part is not about surviving, it is about your hit count: plow through as many people as you can with your now-giant helmet before the run ends, and that count converts into stars. Land ten hits in the plaza and you get a SUPER SIZED callout, worth chasing on its own.
Is Helmet Hero free to play?
Yes. Like everything in the arcade, Helmet Hero is free, loads instantly in the browser, and needs no account or download.
- Grab every hat you see, even off to the side. Size never carries a penalty.
- A wall you barely clear is still a clear. There is no bonus for extra size on a single wall.
- Save your biggest push for the crowd plaza at the end, that is where size actually turns into score.
- Losing a heart does not end the run. Keep collecting and you can still finish.
If grow-then-smash mechanics are your thing, Tape Ball Run runs the same idea with a ball of tape instead of a helmet.
Grow something, smash something
