Dash Rush: When to Jump and When to Switch Lanes

Some barriers you can jump. Some you cannot. Telling them apart in half a second is the whole game.

Dash Rush is three lanes and one road that keeps getting faster. You dodge, you jump, you pick up coins. It sounds simple and it is, right up until the speed catches you out.

Read the shape, not the colour

There are three things in your way and each one tells you what to do just by how it looks.

  • Low striped barrier. Red and white diagonal stripes, about knee height. Jump it.
  • Blue block with a crossed circle. Tall, solid, with a no entry mark on the front. You cannot jump this. Change lane.
  • Striped pylon. Tall and thin with the same stripes. Also a lane change.

The stripes mean danger, but the height means the choice. Anything you can see over, you can jump. Anything with the crossed circle on it, you go around.

Jump late, not early

New players jump too soon. You float over the gap and land right on top of the next thing. The jump has a fixed arc, so where you take off decides where you land.

Wait until the barrier is close, then jump. You come down after it instead of on it. This gets more important as the speed climbs, because the gap between two rows shrinks in real time even though it never changes in distance.

Coins are a trap sometimes

Coins are worth ten points each and distance is worth one per metre. So a long run beats a greedy one. If a coin line sits in a lane with a block at the end of it, take the points you can reach and get out early.

🪙Ten coins in a row triggers a bonus banner. It is worth chasing when the lane is clear, and worth ignoring when it is not.

The speed ramp

The road starts at 19 units a second and climbs to 27 over roughly 600 metres. After that it holds. So your first 600 metres are practice and everything after is the real run.

Most runs end in the same place: the point where you are still reacting at the old speed. Once you know that is coming, you start moving earlier and the wall you kept hitting disappears.
